What we were asked to do
The developers behind the new Ruskin Square development wanted to stage a 'topping out' ceremony to recognise the work of employees and contractors on completing the first stage of the new development next to East Croydon station. The event, which we organised on behalf of Stanhope and Schroders, marked construction of the first office building reaching its maximum height.
How we did it
We drew together the client's guest list of site staff and VIPs to mark the occasion, creating name badges and reception facilities as well as relevant branding, and welcomed 250 guests to the ceremony.
There were logistical issues such as moving staging to the top of a building site but we found solutions to all of these, alongside our excellent suppliers. We used used AMP House, a marketing suite overlooking the site, to host an after-party featuring a drinks reception with local Cronx beer and hearty canapes. In keeping with the tradition of contractors Lendlease, we even supplied an evergreen tree for the ceremony.
An the results speak for themselves
"Thank you so much especially for helping to arrange yesterday - you and your team were amazing. I'm already looking forward to our practical completion party in the summer," Melonae Thomas, Project Manager, Lendlease
"Thank you all for your efforts towards the topping out ceremony yesterday. Everything looked ship shape, the site preparation was much appreciated and the food and drink enjoyed by all. It was good to see a broad spectrum of the organisations involved and catch up with the various teams. Please pass on Stanhope's thanks to all who contributed to the setting up and taking down." Adam Smith, Stanhope
