What we did
The 2017 Kingston Futures Conference took place at the Rose Theatre, Kingston on 27th June.
Following the success of the first Kingston Futures Conference in 2014, a second Kingston Futures Conference took place in 2017 so delegates could hear first-hand about Kingston's investment and development opportunities and engage directly with the borough's representatives.
The conference aimed to promote Kingston as a place to locate, invest and do business, encourage investment into the Royal Borough of Kingston and promote Kingston the place – highlighting its unique offer in terms of leisure, culture and tourism.
Debates of the day focussed on promoting the opportunities which will be created by Crossrail2 and created a 'showcase' for the key retail, commercial, infrastructure, community and residential developments taking place in Kingston. The keynote address was given by Berkeley Homes Chairman Tony Pidgley, Executive Director of Development, Enterprise and Environment at the GLA Fiona Fletcher-Smith and Kingston's leader, Cllr Kevin Davis.
Held at Kingston's Rose Theatre, with excursions for lunch to Jackson&Rye on the riverside, and onto a Thames cruise for the post-event drinks reception, the day was a phenomenal success. Over 200 attendees from the private and public sector came together to hear Kingston's story with 42 industry expert speakers leading the debates.
And the results speak for themselves as 82 % of delegates reported that their perception of Kingston had improved because of the conference, and over 75% of attendees confirmed that they were confident Kingston could deliver good growth for the town's future success.
