What we were asked to do
Following the Croydon Riots, White Label was contracted to support the regeneration of the various areas of the town. The South End has been particularly hard hit and one of the long-term regeneration initiatives we developed was to work with the South Croydon Business Association to create the now annual South End Restaurant Quarter Food Festival.
How we did it
The first food festival was held in 2011 and every year it gets bigger and better. In 2013, 6,000 people visited to enjoy free food al fresco. White Label oversee the whole operation from the road closure to the supplying of a demo kitchen and performance stage. More than 30 traders set out their stalls, and Michelin-rated chef Malcolm John chose the event to launch his new Brasserie Vacherin.
